August 2008 POSITIONS

A Trading Journal (or Trading Diary) is an essential part of any Trading System. This site was developed for that use. It’s a way to record and document the rules, patterns and results of my Trading System. It allows me to analyze previous trades in the Trading Journal and determine which patterns are more successful than others. My goal is to keep my Trading System and Trading Journal as simple as possible by knowing when to enter/exit a trade based on only a few chosen Technical Indicators and Chart Patterns.

I will state the obvious and say that overall, I am aiming for a profitable result, but there will be times where trades (or a series of trades) will not result in a profit. This is a fact that is accepted by all professional traders, and is something that must be accepted by anyone starting or learning how to trade. Position entries are posted in my Trading Journal in the evening of me entering a position. I will post updates of a trade in the Trading Journal if necessary, And then finally when I have exited the position. I may also include a review and any lessons I may have learnt.

I welcome any questions, comments and advice from anyone (professional traders, new traders, passers-by, etc.). This is a site where we can learn from each other.
